What dish will you bring in? Did anyone have any staples during this challenge that you wish to share?
Well, I plan on bringing something delicious with fruit and almond meal....so here it goes!
Paleo Banana Nut Bread
- Almond Meal (1 cup)
- Coconut Flakes (1/4 cup)
- Baking Soda (1/2 tsp)
- Baking Powder (1/2 tsp)
- Bananas (3 small-medium, ripe, mashed)
- Natural Maple Syrup or Honey (1 tsp)
- Cinnamon (2 tsp)
- Eggs (2, omega 3 enriched if possible)
- Vanilla Extract (1/2 tsp)
- Walnuts (1 cup chopped/crumbled)
So I hope to see everyone this Sunday and we will measure, take pics and do the work outs one last time!
From there, I will sit with the Mentors and we will go over all the numbers, journals, pics and determine a winner from each division and anounce the names next week.
Thanks!
Coach Dee

ReplyDeleteCheryl- you make me happy! But yes, the brownies sound AMAZING!
DeleteI LOVE the banana bread! I actually just made this two days ago and still have left overs. I'm still going VERY strong and sticking in till the END..:)
ReplyDeleteIs anyone planning on doing pic, weight, and workout on saturday? I have church on Sunday.
I also can't make it on Sunday will there be testing on Saturday too?
DeleteHey guys- I would really prefer to do all the testing on Sunday. However, I will be at the gym from 0800-9000 Saturday morning and do your measurements at that point. No other coach will be doing the measurements besides myself and Doc so that we can be consistent.
DeleteThx!
Traveling this last week has been tough but have done pretty awesome considering. So it appears our paleo picnic isn't STRICT paleo. Finally some almond flour and honey!! Yeah!

ReplyDeleteSo I thought I would tell the bunch about my first overnight fasting experience. I had dinner at 6:30 last night and then didn't eat anything after 7pm. I did the morning WOD, and I was hungry, but not bad hungry. I did have a post WOD shake, but then I didn't eat untill 10:45am. The worst part of it was not having my coffee. I briefly talked to Cheryl about it and she stated that she gets hypoglycemic if she doesn't eat.
ReplyDeleteWhile I am no expert on this, I have read up enough on paleo to understand if you aren't eating high glycemic index foods (which at present I am not, one shouldn't have this issue. But everyone's body and genetics are different. Also, for me I think a good amount of it is in my head. There are not blood sugar spikes from which to crash. It isn't a long fasting time.
The way I used to eat years ago did cause me problems with hypoglycemic crashes, quite often. Since eating paleo over the past six months that has decreased greatly decreased, but I was still eating some high glycemic index foods.
I would love for Dee or someone else to comment on their thoughts about this issue.
Kristen- I am not quite understanding what is going on? Are you crashing? What's the question?
ReplyDeleteBTW awesome job on the Back Squats!!!! whoohoo
No, I had no crashing problems at all today. The only issue I had was not having my caffeine! LoL. I was just talking about my experince, which I thought was positive today. Cheryl said she gets hypoglycemic when she doesn't eat, so I thought maybe you could talk more about hypoglycemia and intermittent fasting while eating a paleo diet. I know not having those huge fluctuations in blood sugar makes it less likely to happen, but I figured you knew more about it.
DeleteMy staple during this challenge was bacon. Anytime that I felt that I wanted to eat something else unhealthy I would eat some bacon and the urge was gone.
